Our History

HISTORY

Crater Big Brother Mentor Program, formerly known as the Big Brother Mentor Program (BBMP) of the Monument of Faith Church, was established in 1994 by a group of men of the Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church, who were concerned with the negative influence of society and the direction it was leading our youth.  Under the leadership and support of our founder, the late Apostle Richard D. Henton, our Pastor, Apostle Mark A. Henton and the direction of Brother Darryl Crater, the program has been making a positive impact in the lives of our youth from the ages of 8-18 for the past 25 years.

With a combined regiment of academics, recreational, and social curriculum, these young men experience a wide variety of enriching exercises designed to introduce them to special interest and extract hidden talents, while promoting their own goals, aspirations and dreams.  BBMP's mission statement of the six P's principle: "Proper preparation and practice will prevent poor performance", still resonates today in the hearts and on the lips of the over 900 participants that has passed through its doors.

With contributions from generous donations and support from many individual and corporate sponsors, these young people were provided with opportunities to attend a variety of workshops, sporting events, cultural events and annual overnight getaways.

Crater Big Brother Mentor Program director Darryl Crater,

talks about how the program began and it's impact after more than 20 years of service.
